• By using your Options MasterCard everywhere you shop! : Canadian Tire 'Money' On The Card awards are earned when you pay for merchandise using an eligible Options MasterCard, everywhere MasterCard is accepted at over 24 million locations worldwide! Awards are earned on the after-tax purchase amount. Awards may also be earned on eligible on-line purchases.
• By shopping at Canadian Tire Stores: Canadian Tire 'Money' On The Card awards are earned on eligible purchases at Canadian Tire stores, and are calculated on the pre-tax, pre-redemption purchase amount.
• By purchasing at Canadian Tire Gas Bars: Canadian Tire 'Money' On The Card awards are also earned when you purchase gasoline or other eligible merchandise at participating Canadian Tire Gas Bars. Awards are earned on gasoline purchases at a rate based on litres purchased as set out in the then current multiplier schedule. A minimum gasoline purchase is required.²

• PayPass is a new contactless payment feature on your Options MasterCard. It’s as safe and secure as any MasterCard card, and when you use PayPass at a PayPass terminal, your card never leaves your hand. To use it, you simply tap your Options MasterCard with PayPass on the PayPass terminal at the checkout rather than swiping your card or handing it to the cashier. No signature is normally required for purchases $50 or less. Plus, you’ll earn Canadian Tire ‘Money’ On The Card® awards on all your eligible PayPass purchases!

2. Do I earn “Canadian Tire ‘Money’ On The Card® awards on PayPass purchases?

• Yes, absolutely. Just tap and you’ll earn Canadian Tire ‘Money’ On The Card® everywhere you shop when you use your Options MasterCard.

3. Is there a minimum/maximum purchase limit for PayPass transactions?

• There is a dollar limit for PayPass transactions that don’t require a cardholder signature. The exact dollar amount varies from merchant to merchant, but generally purchases over $50 require a signature.

4. Why aren’t signatures required for small purchase amounts?

• The PayPass feature on your Options MasterCard is designed for everyday low-ticket purchases that you would have formerly paid with cash. To ensure this type of transaction is as simple and convenient as cash, many merchants do not require a signature. The exact dollar amount varies from merchant to merchant, but is generally below $50. For purchases above that limit, a cardholder signature is usually required.

5. How do I tap properly?

It’s easy!

• Hold your Options MasterCard with PayPass card in your hand
• Move it to the PayPass terminal and tap your card. Listen for the beep and look for the green light indicating payment was accepted – and there is no receipt to wait for!
• If your purchase is under the pre-specified set amount, you’ll be on your way. You will have successfully tapped and earned “Canadian Tire ‘Money’ on the Card” awards!

• For your protection and security, Canadian Tire Financial Services has implemented a process to activate your card. You will be (were) asked 3 to 4 questions related specifically to you. This process will access your consumer report to assist Canadian Tire Financial Services in verifying your identity. This is not a credit check but a tool used to ensure the person activating this card(s) is really you.

2. Why is Canadian Tire Financial Services using this tool?

• Canadian Tire is constantly looking for ways to improve security to help protect our customers and our systems from criminal activity. We are introducing this new process to address the growing issue of credit card fraud.

3. Will this affect my credit rating?

• No, this security measure WILL NOT impact your credit rating. We are accessing information on your credit file in order to verify your identity. This is not a credit check.

4. How long will this take?

• This security measure will take approximately (3) minutes. After which, all cards on your account will be successfully activated.
