Identity theft happens when thieves steal personal identification from wallets, from mailboxes and garbage, and from personal information you share on the Internet. They use this valuable information to obtain credit and commit fraud. As a victim, you could face a long and costly process of closing bad accounts, opening new ones, and repairing a damaged credit record. You may even be denied jobs and loans.

Attempting to resolve identity fraud issues on your own can be complicated and time consuming. If a wallet belonging to you, your spouse or dependent child (up to 21 years of age) is lost or stolen, the Identity Watch team will respond immediately by canceling all registered cards, assuming all risk and responsibility for fraudulent charges, monitoring your credit and providing valuable fraud resolution services.

If you are a member of the Identity Watch program and your registered cards are lost or stolen, call us immediately. We will contact your card companies and ask them to cancel your cards and issue replacements. In some cases, such as a lost debit card, you may need to request the replacement directly from your financial institution. After we notify your card companies, we will send you a confirmation letter and a new card registration form.

Membership in the Identity Watch program is available for a low monthly fee of $6.95 or $69.00 per year, plus applicable taxes. This membership fee covers a comprehensive range of services (for you, your spouse and dependent children up to the age of 21) and, if your cards are lost or stolen, includes 6 months of Daily Credit Monitoring (valued at about $90) at no additional charge – so you can be alerted to any potential fraudulent activity.

Identity Watch is a program offered by Canadian Tire Financial Services and is available to all Canadian Tire MasterCard® Cardmembers at this time.

There is a 30 day trial period. If you are not completely satisfied with your membership, you may cancel within the first 30 days after your date of enrolment.
