In store: wake-up your phone when you’re ready to check out and hold it close to the payment terminal – no need to open the app. Purchases made in store using Android Pay typically have a limit of $100, this is set by the merchant.
In app: make a one-tap purchase when you select the Android Pay button.
Whether you’re shopping in-store or in app, the merchant will never receive any personal identifying information, including your credit card number.
How do I return an item purchased with Android Pay?
In most instances, a return should work with Android Pay the same as it would if you had swiped a regular card. The key difference is that instead of the merchant having to swipe your card again you'll have to tap your phone on the payment terminal again to verify the return. Be sure to check that the Card selected in Android Pay is the one that you used for the original purchase. In some cases you may also be asked for the last few digits of your Card number. If this happens, you should provide the last few digits of your virtual account number. To view the last four or five digits of the virtual account number go to "Card details" or "Transaction details. Check with your retailer before making the return, as some merchants will require your physical card to process the refund.
What is the virtual account number and how do I find it?
Your credit card information is assigned a unique virtual account number that’s used at
checkout, so your full card details are never shared with the store. Think of it as a digital stand-in for your
payment information. To view the last four or five digits of your virtual account number go to “Card details”
or “Transaction details”.
Where can I find my Virtual Account number?
You can find this four-digit number when you open the Android Pay app on your device and tap on the card details screen.

Absolutely! You will earn the same level of rewards regardless of whether you use Android Pay or the physical credit card for the transaction.
Is there a minimum or maximum spend limit to use Android Pay?
There is no spending limit on your credit card. The maximum spend limit is set by the credit limit associated with the credit card selected on Android pay.
Can I still use my plastic card after I add it to Android Pay?
As long as your account is in good standing, you will be able to use your plastic card in the same way as you use it today.
Can I still use my plastic card if I decide to remove it from Android Pay?
As long as your account is in good standing, you will be able to continue using your plastic card even if you remove or suspend it from Android Pay.
Android Pay Security
How secure is Android Pay?
We have a multi layered security approach with Android Pay. Android Pay stores your credit card on secure servers and encrypts your payment information with industry-standard SSL technology.
Payment information is encrypted and constantly monitored for malware and fraud. We don’t share the
actual 16-digit card number with merchants during the transaction and we don't store it on the phone. If a
phone gets lost or stolen, you can disable its ability to use Android Pay remotely and because the actual
card number is not stored on the device, there is no need to cancel it. Finally, we also use a dynamic security code that changes with each transaction, so that even if someone were to hack a merchant they wouldn't get access to users' credentials that were sent through Android Pay. If your phone is ever lost or stolen you can easily find, lock, and erase your phone using Android Device Manager.
What happens if I lose my device?
If your device is ever lost or stolen, you can use Android Device Manager to instantly lock it from anywhere, secure it with a new password, or wipe it clean of personal data. You should also call us immediately at 1-800-459-6415 so that we can block your card on Android Pay.
Android Pay doesn’t store your plastic credit card number on your device so your card details will stay safe. You will still be able to use your plastic card normally even if you remove it from Android Pay.
What happens if I replace or upgrade my device?
You will need to add your card to Android Pay again if you replace or update your device.
Remove your card from your device before disposing of it by selecting ‘Remove Card’ in the Android Pay app or through Android Device Manager.
What happens if I lose or need to replace my plastic card?
Call us immediately at 1-800-459-6415 so that we can block your physical card and mail you a new one. Your new card details will be automatically updated on your device so you will still be able to Android Pay while you wait for your new plastic card to arrive.
What happens if unauthorized purchases are made with Android Pay?
When you use your Canadian Tire Mastercard, you’re protected against fraud. Mastercard zero liability protection applies to your purchases made in store, over the phone, online or via a mobile device and ATM transactions. Have peace of mind knowing that you won’t be responsible for unauthorized use if:
