Bad actors posing as representatives of Canadian Tire Bank pretend to be promoting GIC products. The information being provided by these fraudsters contains inaccurate GIC rates and false information (images can be seen below). They are contacting potential victims by phone, email, or SMS with the objective of stealing personal information and funds.
Canadian Tire Bank does not employ representatives to promote or sell it’s GICs or other retail banking products in-person, over the phone, or by email.
If you have been contacted, do not communicate with nor share any personal information with someone trying to sell you a Canadian Tire GIC, even if the communication seems professional or legitimate – it is not. Instead, you should contact:
